The genus name Gastrochilus means "belly lip," a name given to these orchids due to the distinctive, blown-up appearance of their flower's lip (labellum) that resembles a swollen belly. It is the name for an orchid genus (family Orchidaceae) containing 73 species, predominantly epiphytic (growing on trees or rocks) and native to tropical and subtropical Asia.
Gastrochilus 屬名意為“腹唇”, 因其花唇（唇瓣）獨特, 膨脹的外觀, 形似隆起的腹部而得名。
