"Lycaste" refers to both a genus of orchids and a princess in Greek mythology. The orchid genus, named after the mythological princess, features showy, long-lasting flowers and large pseudobulbs. In mythology, Lycaste was the daughter of King Priam and Queen Hecuba of Troy and also a follower of Artemis and a Maenad.
