When I bought it with blooms, it had no root, the owner said the root will come after flowering, all I need to do is to keep moist & mist it a couple times a day... But its leaves start to wrinkle, and I still keep it moist & mist it daily, however, there's no root at all, it has been over a month by now, I feel like being cheated by the vendor, X#@#@..
Any Kao-Sho know how to treat it? Please help!! Thanks in advance
Wow ~ That are tiny little flowers !!! This is definitely one of the smallest orchids in the world that you apparently experience difficulty in focusing !! Thanks for sharing !
Avery, it is tiny, but I don't think it's the tiniest orchid flower, I've seen even more smaller ones. It's my expensive "S" brand digital camera couldn't get too close to it, sighs! Remember you used to advise me to get for digital camera? I end up choose this "S" brand DC because it's easy to travel with.
You're right, it's Sony, DSC-V1. 717 is too big to carry for traveling, speaking of traveling, I'll visit HK late May after the Redland show. I like small and easy use thing. Lazy, what can I say?!
The Den. anceps is quite an easy grower. Don't worry even if it has not roots.
Generally speaking, this species need strong to medium light, but where you grow it looks too dark. Don't worry it will be dehydrated under medium light even if it is a bit weak for the moment. Then check if your medium is well draining. It is usually recommended to be mounted on bark or tree-fern or potted with well draining medium. Let the medium dry out daily and don't water too frequent just because it start to wrinkle. Keep the medium in constant daily dry-wet frequency will usually stimulate the roots grow up. Then move it to the strong light environment till roots grown up and wrinkle will then disappeared.
Good Luck and Happy Growing!!
P.S. I've been to Gainesville, Jacksonville, Orlando and several nice springs in Florida. Where are you?
SOAVI: Thanks a lot for your response. It make me feel better after reading your message. Yes, you were right, it was too dark, but it was just tempertary while we were building the new orchid house for it, now, I've moved it to a brighter spot. I'll repot later.
What were you doing in Florda at different places?? I'm in West Palm Beach, next time if you are ever in Florida again, you are welcome to come to my house a day or two. Or maybe we can meet you in Orlando or Taipei. Ciao.
