Thank you for your email regarding the expeditions to Mount Roraima.
Ibex Earth has planned two expeditions this year for the following dates;
Saturday 2nd April 2011 - Tuesday 12th April 2011
And
Saturday 16th April 2011 - Tuesday 26th 2011.
Both expeditions have exactly the same itinerary. The itinerary, and a detailed overview of the expedition can be downloaded at http://www.ibexearth.com/images/ExpeditionItinerary2011.pdf (alternatively, please visit http://www.ibexearth.com/2011-lost-world-project-expeditions.html and click on the itinerary document on the right to download it as a PDF file).
The cost of joining either of the 2011 Lost World Expeditions is just £3,000 - this includes your flight to Caracas, Venezuela, all of your travel and food whilst on the expedition, all accommodation, as well as guides and porters. It also allows us to raise some money for the conservation causes in Venezuela, and complete the goals of the Lost World Project. The project is entirely non-profit ¡V my involvement is as an unpaid volunteer.
Regarding fitness, the expedition does obviously involve several days trekking, but no special skills are required. Hundreds of people climb Mount Roraima each year, ranging from children to people in their 70s. The expedition to the mountain top is a long walk, but anyone with a normal fitness level capable of walking several kilometres each day can complete the climb.
By taking part on this not-for-profit expedition, you will have the adventure of a life time, and at the same time, help Ibex Earth to continue raising money to fulfil the specific aims and objectives of The Lost World Project, to safeguard the long-term future of Mount Roraima.
All those who take part in the expedition will be invited as special guests to the premiere of the Lost World Project documentary at the Royal Geographical Society on June 30th 2011. This event promises to be one of the most talked about environmental events of 2011.
I have attached a summary report of our 2010 non-profit expedition to Mount Roraima, during which, we successfully put in place $11,000 of funding to support the conservation of the lost world (see www.ibexearth.com for more details). This will hopefully provide an overview of the experience as a whole, and I have also attached a selection of images to depict the summit of Mount Roraima, and many of the spectacles which will be encountered on the course of the expedition.
Further information is available at http://www.ibexearth.com/2011-lost-world-project-expeditions.html , however additionally, please don¡¦t hesitate but to email if I may answer any specific questions that you may have.
If you would like to reserve a place on either of the 2011 expeditions, please could you email Chris Livemore at chris.livemore@ibexearth.com
I will look forward to your reply, and also to offering any further help that you may require.
Kind regards,
Stewart McPherson
