| Rhinogobius formosanus
This goby is characterized by the waveform cheek streak, sometimes some scholar not so well-trained may misidentify it with another common goby, R. giurinus, which also possesses such cheek streak.
For example: http://fishdb.sinica.edu.tw/2001new/specimendetail_LR.asp?asiz=NMNSF00807
It is not "formosanus", but "giurinus", the immediate way to discriminate them is the sucking disc formed by the pectoral fins, in formosanus it is round in contour, but in giurinus it is elliptic.
