Z. robusta has an aspect similar to that of Z.carinata and has a similar size and perigone color. However, it is easily distinguished from Z. carinata by thefollowing combination of character states: glaucous leaves; floral pedicel 40-60 mm long; declinate perigonewith a short tube (2-4 mm); acuminate tepals with fimbri-ate scales around the insertion points of the stamens; andanthers 4-5 mm long.
