First of all, it is impractical to expect such an atlas(albeit from my personal viewpoint the author is not competent in basic taxnonmy) to be infallible; nevertheless, there does exist a good many flaws in it and these could not be explicated only by claiming that such work is not a seriously academic publication.
Among the faults found in this book, what occurs most frequently is represented by :
1.Discordant description and presentation on speciment-locality relationship (eg. Puntius semifasciolatus, Squalidus iijimae, Zacco platypus....)
2."Fake" specimen: eg. Macrognathus aculeatus
3.Typesetting or editing errors: anyone could find several ones - should he keep careful on scrutinizing the text !
Of course, many of them are forgivable on the account of inadequate expertise in fish taxonomy or inadvertence on editing process, but some others do violate the requirements or regulations that request such a wok to be as credible and reliable as it should be.
