I agree with the others suggestions, however, there's yet another way. If you don't want to change the level of your light, you can cut a piece of kiechen towel, let say, 4cm by4cm and use it to cover the center growing part of your plant. Your old leaves will recieve much light, but young leaves will not be so squashed. I saw this on some other internal chat and did it for my AV.... works quite well.
